Hawkeyes.org ID:
Real Name: Brent Meyer
Location: Seattle, WA
Favorite Sports: College Football Regular Season, College Football Bowls, and College Football Recruiting.
Game Day Routine: Wake up, take a walk around Green Lake in North Seattle sporting Hawkeye Gear, make certain my Gameplan works (it doesn't always), and watch the Hawkeyes (12:30 PST kickoffs move the schedule back a few hours).
First Hawkeye Memory: I vaguely remember Iowa in the 1980 Final Four and the thrill of beating Georgetown along the way.
Favorite Hawkeye Memory: I have a few from games I personally attended -- the enthusiasm of the Hawkeye crowd in Ann Arbor in 2002 after the biggest Wolverine home loss in decades, the heart of the 2000 team during their Homecoming victory over Michigan State, and the excitement of the 1995 Sun Bowl victory. On television, the best games I ever saw were the 12 -10 win over Michigan in 1985 (#1 vs. #2) and the 42-35 victory in Double Overtime over Penn State in 2002.
Favorite Player(s): Football: Brad Banks is my favorite offensive player because of his skill and because it's something I always wish Iowa had (a QB who could run). I really liked Derek Pagel on defense as he represented the never-give-up walk on attitude. Basketball Chris Street and BJ Armstrong, but it is safe to say we can add Jeff Horner after he has a chance to play more than 35 games.
The most important rivalry: Illinois is most important.
The team, even if they do not play the Hawks, who should always lose: You know who I really can't stand -- the Wartburg Knights. Grrrrr, they get on my nerves.
Other sites worth a look: Collegefootballnews.com does a good job. Theonion.com is funny. Hawkcentral.com and Hawkeyesports.com do a pretty good job of covering the U.
Hobbies: Recently, my Chow Chow/Husky mix has taken up a great deal of my time and I've also done a little camping. I enjoy golf and listening to music as well. I'd like to plug Korby Lenker (www.korbylenker.com) as a good, young artist out of Bellingham. I've also started to do some cooking recently. I can make a pretty mean Jamaican Jerk Chicken. |
