Hi-Speed, attack, attack, attack. I love the pace, the determination to force tempo and the relentless nature. Its fun to watch and I bet its fun to play. Too bad we got this tweedle dee, piss it around the perimeter style at Iowa. Playing one "big" (at 6'7", its a stretch to call it that when the other teams usually have two guys bigger, and sometimes three ) isnt going to cut it, cant defend, cant rebound ( the tactic of having guards block out like O Linemen, and with their backs to the basket, is plain a loser way to do it ), and the smalls arent offering the mismatches on the O( and pretty much never will, unless speeding it up, attacking the basket is a major part of the plan, its way too easy to defend the perimeter when you know they are staying out there ).

MSU caught a buzzsaw tonight.

UNC is on a different level than pretty much everyone. They are so good.

I still think Lickliter's style can win, but he's got to get better players to Iowa City. Style is secondary to winning. Wisconsin basketball is brutal to watch to an outsider. If you're a Badger fan and you've won a handful of conference titles in the last decade, you don't complain a bit.

Wisconsin's style if nothing like the piss ant slow down perimeter approach of Lick. It attacks the basket, creates spacing and mismatches, and presents opportunites for all players to post up. Plus, they run when they can. Bo's D also is better on lower body positioning and on man D, whereas Lick focuses on guarding space, and his approach of playing one big ( oftentimes not big enough ) leaves too many rebounds to the opponent.

Is saying that his approach can win wishful thinking? It really isnt based upon any results ( and I dont count the Horizon League as proof, as its not a run through the BigTen, the athletes are not of the same calibre, and if you want to count the NCAA, well, that is with teams unfamiliar with him and wouldnt see him but once, so its easier to pick off a few ). If he persists with this slow crap, he wont recruit top athletes ( they want to run and use their athleticism ) and he wont pull fans in to see the games ( a slow pace and losing doesnt generate much enthusiasm.
