My guess is it´s Carlton Reed. He´ll be first off the bench at the 2 and see alot more playing time now that Pierce is gone. You´d have to guess he´ll see his minutes increase and he´s shown flashes of being a very good shooter.

They all do. The team will be better for it. MH offers nice D, CR offers a better O, nad the others have a combination of skills that will, on the whole, make it good,....but they all have to pony up.

I´m in agreement with Henery...it´ll take the whole team, and not just one guy.

The buzz is, as HH mentioned, that Reed is a better scorer, but Henderson is more of a defensive player than Reed. I imagine they´ll split Pierce´s former minutes.

As for immediate answer...Henderson is listed as starter for Saturday, which makes sense...he has the year experience on Reed. Though, in my opinion, I´ve been more
impressed with Reed when he´s been on the floor. And Carlton hasn´t become academically ineligible.

Yet.

I guess I should have qualified my comment - yes, the whole team needs to step up but I expect Haluska, Horner, Brunner and Hansen/Thomas to perform like they have maybe a bit more. Henderson, Reed, Thompson will now see more time - if I had to guess, Reed has a bit more upside than the other two.

Jay´s comments on Henderson and Reed splitting Pierce´s minutes reminds me of the old Iowa girls 6-on-6 basketball, where 3 players from each team played offense, and 3 played defense, and never crossed the half court line. Anybody else remember those days?

I can remember a few times when I was in High School, and (for whatever reason) our coaches had both boys and girls teams scrimmage against each other - one half we played by girls rules (only two dribbles, no crossing the center line...) and the other half by the boys rules.

It was pretty comical when we played 5-on-5 - the girls would play 3 forwards and two guards, but we would always double team two forwards, because their guards couldn´t/wouldn´t shoot, or we´d switch to a 2-3 zone and really mess them up.

Now I´m feeling all nostalgic for high school basketball...

6 on 6 was fun to watch. It also is a better game for the women/girls, their bodies ( knees and hips ) are under less stress and do better in that game. Notice the knee injuries in womens/girls BB is extremely high.

I always thought it was kind of insulting to them. "You girls can´t play offense and defense, and running up and down the court all the time could get tiring. As a matter of fact, let´s limit you to two dribbles, so you don´t have to go very far with the ball."

Actually, I think it would have been rough for some girls who had played 6-on-6 to transition to "regular" basketball in a lot of ways. I know several forwards who (under the lax traveling rules they barely enforced) could go from center court to shooting a layup in those two dribbles. It looked like the NBA with about 2 1/2 steps allowed after picking up the ball.

I was impressed with Carlton Reed in last year´s high school championship game, which was televised here in Iowa. Sorry Henery, Mr. Reed´s team defeated our beloved Lancers.

I do believe he will only shine as a Hawkeye, I truly hope he learns from the mistakes made by Pierce. It will only make him a better person!

I think the safe answer at this point is either A) Adam Haluska or B) Absolutely no one.
